Senior Year...'13'ad Start.

September 7, 2012

Senior year began for me on August 20th, a mere three or so weeks ago. When I think of 'senior year' I think of endless fun. I think of awesome privileges. I think of FINALLY getting out of school early. I think of freedom and I think of power. This year has pretty much crushed my expectations of how Senior year should be or would normally be...and like I said, I've only been a Senior for three weeks at my school.

Allow me to explain...

The first day we get our schedules. A few of my friends get to leave at an hour early every day, I'm thinking SWEET, ME TOO!. Wrong. I have a full load of 7 classes every day. Required Bible, English, Trig, Chemistry, British Literature, Economics, and Computer. Feeling as though I could certainly drop at least 1 maybe 2 of these classes so I could begin volunteering at the local vet clinic daily as I had planned out this past summer, I spoke with my principal all the first week about either switching classes or dropping them completely. Needless to say, I couldn't drop any without it being a study hall...which I don't care for having. But in the end, we get to leave early an hour early on Thursdays without taking Chemistry, fair enough. I'm satisfied with that. :)

That's not all that took place in that week. The above wasn't the most of my ongoing school issues. My school decided to let Juniors and Seniors eat in a designated area away from the cafe because there's not enough room in there for all the kids in grades 7-12, so they separated us. It's nice and all...but when you have other friends in lower grades, you want to be able to see and talk to them sometimes too. I won't get into all of it because it would be like opening a can of worms...but I'll just say that a lot has happened..and these past three weeks at school have been pure hell. Definitely not what I had expected going into my Senior year. :/

All I can hope is that this year picks up and becomes fun, because at the moment it's anything but. Hopefully by basketball season things will level out. And hopefully I can end this year without any more trouble. xD

PS, so the summer challenges didn't go as great as I had figured...>.> A few things I was going to do at the beach such as releasing a message in a bottle were against beach rules and there was a huge fine so I couldn't do it. D:

#31-32 Pan For Gold & Go To The Mountains!

August 8, 2012
#32 Go to the mountains.

Summer Challenge #31 and #32
#31 Panning for gold.

So this past weekend, I went on a family vacation to the mountains instead of the beach. It was a bunch of fun and a great way to get away from the extreme heat. The temperature up there was around 80 degrees and I was loving it!

We went panning for gold and gems and found a bunch of cool stones. We found some amethyst, clear quartz, crystal, calcite, onyx, and other unidentifiable rocks and ones with names I cannot remember nor pronounce. xD My brother found the coolest of the bunch though in his bag. He found a small amethyst geode rock and it is so pretty! o.o'

While at the mountains, we went to a place called Santa Land so my brother could ride some rollercoasters and rides. It was awesome walking around and seeing all types of different animals; there were baby bears, porcupines, a type of deer, kangaroos, monkeys, gigantic koi fish, a jungle cat, and a camel and some llamas.

Mini-golf, gem mining, cool air, chilling with the family....I'll say this was a great and much-needed vacation. :)

Next week, I'll be hitting the beach so definitely another blog post will be needed once I get back. :D

~Keep those lights shining bright, even in the darkest of times much like this lantern in a mining cave. ^w^

This picture above is not mine. All the others on this blog post  are my own. :)

#25 Get My Braces Off...FINALLY!

August 3, 2012

Summer Challenge #25
Get my braces off.....FINALLY!!!

After 4 horrible, metal filled years,  my braces are finally off and I just can't stop smiling!!! My teeth are beautifully straight and honestly, it's a huge confidence boost.  It feels so very weird not to have metal stuck to my teeth, preventing me from *comfortably* eating food without the worrisome thought if something got stuck in them and then talking to someone else...gross, right? But now, that thought is gone. I can now eat whatever I want without worrying if it gets stuck and pulls a bracket off or something of the sort.

I never realized how BIG my teeth are. Like for real.. Well...I suppose going 4 years of not seeing my full teeth without bulky brackets and wire covering them can really make a person forget what life was like pre-braces. xD

I really expected it to hurt like pure heck. But it didn't hurt at all...well only a little bit when they pulled the top braces off...but that's only because a few of those teeth are sensitive.

I admit, I did keep my eyes closed for the most part. Why? Because, after all the brackets and junk are off, they use a drill-type thingy to scrape the excess glue off...which sends tooth dust a-flying. Did I want tooth dust in my eyeball??? No. Not at all. Word to the wise, it's best to keep your eyes closed during that part. x)

It's odd how getting braces on and then after a period of time, getting them off, can make a person look different. If I had taken this picture when I had braces still, it would not have looked as good as it looks without braces. Honestly, myself with no braces can now take better pictures. xD It's just amazing. Yay for a better smile!! :D

...and just in time for Senior year, which starts on the 20th, way too soon. :/

And now, I must leave and go pack my things. I'm off on vacation for the weekend, completing more challenges as I go...hopefully. ;D

But He Will Live On. {R.I.P Riley}

July 25, 2012
{not a challenge post..}

The day we first got Riley :)
 Remember the post where I told about how my mom brought home a cute, chubby little Jack Russell mixed puppy from work because the owner couldn't take care of the pups so he was going to take the pups to the pound? Well this past Monday morning, our Riley passed away

Riley wasn't the first in his litter to pass on either. He was one of the last in his litter to leave this earth. Something in his blood-line wasn't right. He was a perfectly healthy puppy until two weeks ago. All of a sudden, Riley started having really bad seizures. After a couple seconds, he would get up and everything was normal, of so it seemed. We looked it up online and began mixing honey with his food, because that is said to help. It helped for a little bit.

A week later, it happened again even more times a day. Riley began to get weak and his memory began to fail. Since the vet was closed, we went online again and read that there was nothing to cure him from having the Epileptic Seizures for good. The medicine would cure it temporarily and sometimes not at all depending on the dog, since the condition is genetic. The next day, we couldn't find him anywhere and we searched and searched. We eventually found him but he was already gone. :'(  He fought for as long as he could. But he will live on in our hearts. I'm sure he's in the big dog-park in the sky, running and playing with all the other dogs.

 We miss you Riley!!!!!!!

#23 Pick An Offical Summer Song?? { + Updates?}

July 16, 2012

Summer Challenge #23
Pick an official Summer song.

So this one isn't as easy as it sounds. Over the weeks, new songs come up and become popular and there's just too many that I like just to choose one in particular that describes Summer 2012
So...I have a Summer Playlist 2012. {in no particular order x) }

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1* Chasing The Sun ~ The Wanted
2* Anna Sun ~ Walk The Moon
3* What Makes You Beautiful ~ One Direction
4* One Thing ~ One Direction
5* To The Sky ~ Owl City
6* Good Time ~ Owl City {feat. Carly Rae Jepsen}
7* Call Me Maybe ~ Carly Rae Jepsen
8* Payphone ~ Maroon 5 {feat. Wiz Khalifa}
9* Something Bout A Truck ~ Kip Moore
10* Drunk On You ~ Luke Bryan
11* Barefoot Blue Jean Night ~ Jake Owen {My summer song of last year xD}
12* King For A Day ~ Pierce The Veil {feat. Kellin Quinn}
13* I'm A Pirate, You're A Princess ~ PlayRadioPlay!
14* Me Without You ~ Tobymac
15* If I'm James Dean, Then You're Audrey Hepburn ~ Sleeping With Sirens
16* We Are Young! ~ Fun.
17* Postcard From Pairs ~ The Band Perry.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What makes a "Summer Playlist" or "Summer Song" isn't by how popular the song is or how new it is, but by what it means to the person listening to it, how it makes them feel and think. Each of the songs I picked are songs I frequently listened to this summer, both old and new...both popular and not. I could've had quite a few more up there...but I limited myself as to not this a super long post. xD

A few updates on some of the upcoming challenges:
1) One of my best friends and I took our Senior Pictures last Monday! It was really fun and hopefully we'll be getting our pictures back soon and as soon as we do, I'll be sure to post them. x)

2) A beach adventure is coming up the first weekend in August as well as another beach adventure around the second full week of August. Quite a few more challenges will be knocked out then. :)

3) I believe I mentioned this in my last post...but I get my braces off AUGUST 3RD!!!! :D {Possibly earlier since it might interfere with my beach vacation. ;D}

4) Again, I apologize for not posting regularly. It's just scorching hot outside or storming really badly. :/ Also, since this is the summer before Senior year, I've been consuming a lot of my time filling out Scholarships and stuff like that. >.>

Keep your lights shining brightly like the sun! :D

#21 Draw A "Masterpiece" With Chalk

July 9, 2012

Summer Challenge #21
Draw a "masterpiece" with sidewalk chalk

This challenge was really fun to do, and it took about an hour to complete. My younger brother even took part in this challenge...
Meet the penguin. It's so adorable. Not bad for a seven year old, eh? x)

The trouble with most of these challenges and why I haven't been doing them as frequently as I had hope, is due to the extreme heat we've been having here in the South, getting to be daily where the temperature is 100+. >.<
Sorry about that y'all. I'll try to do more in the evenings whenever it stops being so humid and muggy out. D:

Happy Belated Fourth of July, as well! :D
I hope you all ate a lot of yummy food and shot/watched some awesome fireworks. :) My family and I took a trip to a town park and watched a fantastic firework show. :D

I have some huge news! I am officially getting my braces off, after 5 years, in August!! On the 3rd to be most exact. :) I am super siked about that. :D Wheee! :D

Keep your lights shining, stay cool, and refuse to sink! :)

#38 Tie Dye A Shirt

June 20, 2012

Summer Challenge #38
Tie-dye a shirt.

 So yesterday in the afternoon, I decided why not tie-dye a shirt. I chose to do a spiralled yellow and orange shirt because I wanted something that reminded me of summer and sun-shiny brightness. xD It didn't take too long and once I was finished, my right hand was stained orange and my left stained yellow. That's a pain in the behind to get off. >.>

And since I was tie-dying...I also tie-dyed a nurses' scrub top for my mom. It looks like a mango threw up on it. She wanted pink, lime green, and yellow like the picture on the back of the kit. Pictures lie. It does not show how it actually turns out. They definitely coloured that picture with some paint program because my colours ran into each other and created a light mango shirt. But once I rinsed it...it didn't look as bad as I thought it would. Hah but putting it in the dryer to completely dry? Bad mistake. It faded and is now a faded mango tie-dye scrub top. ...whatever works?

And here's the completed [dry] product of my shirt :D
...I know the lighting is horrible...I'll probably add in a different picture of it later. xD

But I believe it turned out pretty good. I like it, and that's what counts. :D

So until next time...

#3 Finger Paint A Picture

June 18, 2012

Summer Challenge #3
Finger paint a picture on canvas and then frame it.

Ta-da! My finger paint and hand print masterpiece! xD
I did this lovely work of art yesterday as my brother and I did crafts for our wonderful Dad for Father's Day. :)

To all the wonderful Dads out there, I wish you all a Happy Father's Day a day late. n.n

What will my next challenge completed be? I'm actually thinking about tie-dying a shirt today...yellow and orange! :D Though my brother wants me to do the Cinnamon Challenge next just to watch me fail. How lovely. >.>

Until next time, :)

#4 >Temporary< Colored Highlights

June 8, 2012

Summer Bucket List #4
Put >Temporary< Coloured Highlights in My Hair

 This 'challenge' was super fun and super easy for me. This past Halloween, I stocked up on that temporary spray-in hair dye that comes out once ya wash your hair. I have bright red, blue, and purple. I typically put red in, so I changed it up and used purple. See the purple tint? :)

 Unfortunately, it's faded now since I have been outside in the sun all day. But I thought ahead and took pictures beforehand when it was still bright and noticeable. :D

 And oh my goodness. My mom came home from work and brought home the most surprising thing ever.

Meet Riley. He's a nine month old Jack Russel mix. He is super fat! xD A woman at my mom's job was giving them away to whoever wanted them and whatever pups were left would go to the pound. D:

So, we're keeping him until we can find him a good home. :)
{or maybe until we can convince my dad to allow Riley to live with us permanently. xD}

Keep your lights shining~ :)

#2 Paint Each Finger Nail A Different Colour.

June 6, 2012

Summer Challenge #2
Paint each finger nail a different colour.
So I began my Summer Challenge with something simple...or so I thought. I began my nail painting last night, finding only eight different colours. Really? Only eight? >.> So two nails ended up being the same teal colour and one was classic black. And looking at my nails now, it looks super duper tacky since some are glittery, some are bold colours, and two are natural colours. ...yeah not the prettiest masterpiece in the world...but Challenge number two is officially crossed off as complete. :)

I'm thinking of being bold and going for the Cinnamon Challenge next...if only it'll stop raining. Yes, I'll be doing it outside, so my parents won't freak out when there's a mess in the kitchen.  Cause there will be a mess. x)

Maybe I'll put temporary spray-in streaks in my hair if it's still raining...hmmm...I'm thinking purple. ;D

Until next time,

Keep those lights shining bright!

And Just Like That...It's Gone...

June 1, 2012

 And just like a released balloon into the sky, my Junior year of high school is done. It's over. It feels as though I just began the year and now it's over! This year has been one of my best and favourite years of school, I must say. I began this year with not wanting to go back to school. I ended this year with not wanting it to end, not wanting to go back to staying at home. My fear was irrational though. I knew there'd be more people than just who was there last year. And there was. With the new seventh graders and all the new kids that came and kids who've been there for a while, I made tons of new friends. With that being said, there's been a lot of funny moments that happened this year and moments I will never forget. Junior year...who would've thought it'd be one of my best years of school? :)

Junior year. A time for class rings. It was really fun to pick and choose which one I wanted. There were so many different styles and stones and colours and images. So many choices. Here's a picture of mine, cropped to hide my hand because it looked...weird. xD I chose an aquamarine stone, no it isn't my birthstone, but because I love light blue, it's my favourite colour. :)
On one side, there's my graduation year, 2013, and a beach scene with a bird flying away. I found it to be pretty. :) On the other side, there's my name and underneath that is a basketball point guard and my basketball number, #13. ^_^

 A time for these two lovely tests. I took the ACT back in the fall of last year and I received a round composite score of 23. Not too bad. Sadly, I must take it again this coming school year. >.>

The SAT I recently took the beginning of last month. It was quite difficult and, unlike the ACT, any wrong answers would actually be counted and deducted from your score. The English sections, I found to be easy enough and that was my strength in this test. The math, however, I got nearly half of it correct. Mainly because it was mostly trig questions and I haven't taken trig yet. o.O'' I ended the test with a feeling of underachievement and a melted brain. I recently received my scores back and to my surprise, I scored a 1670 out of the 2400. Thank you English! xD

A time for my school's Varsity Girls' Basketball team to finally become Conference champs once more after 10 years or so. :) I'm the one holding the ball.
And here's to going to the Quarter-Finals of our division. Hopefully we'll go even farther next year. :)

A time for Junior-Senior prom. Our theme this year was
a "Rave" theme, complete with hanging glowsticks, strobe lights, black lights, neon colours, pop rocks, and awesome fun! When this school year started, I told myself I would not go to prom. Dresses + Me = WTF, no way. But by the time it rolled around and a definite awesome theme was chosen, I decided 'what the heck, why not?' I asked one of my awesome amazing Freshmen friends to go with me. We had a blast! :)

A time to graduate from Junior Leadership. Another thing I had thought of not doing at first... I'm so very glad I did this though! It was fun and I met many new kids from around and it was a great learning experience! :)

Also notice something in that picture...I'm wearing a skirt. Yes a skirt. WTF, right? We had to dress nicely for graduation so I figured why the freak not. It's pretty and blue and matches well with my black lacy shirt. Why the freak not. xD

Junior year. And it's gone, just like that. Yesterday was my last day. My last day to see my friends until we hang out during the summer and for some til next school year rolls around. Yesterday was the first time I haven seen some of my friends for a week, since I exempted all of my final exams. This guy with me? ->
Yeah, he's like my older brother I never had and I'm his little sis. We call him Catfish, long story don't ask. xD He's awesome and someone you can never ever forget. :)

And it's done. Over and done with. And we made it. Upcoming Seniors. Graduating in May of 2013. One last year to make memories of high school. Time to start visiting colleges. Applying to colleges. Filling out scholarships. Spring is a time for our last Junior-Senior prom. A time for our Senior trip. Times for pictures. And lastly, a time to graduate high school forever.

And just like that, it'll be gone.

PS: Since summer has *officially* started for me, I'll begin working on my summer bucket list...so keep watch! :D

May 18, 2012

 With school winding down and summer vacation beginning on May 31st, I decided to bring back something I thoroughly enjoyed not only because I loved doing it, but also to celebrate my one year Blog-o-versary! :D

 What am I bringing back from the past? Remember the 42 Day Challenge? ;D No, I'm not doing another challenge like that per say...but I found something equally interesting and awesome for me {and you?} to do this summer!

 I found the idea from a random question on Yahoo Answers which led me to this: http://gonewiththesummer.wordpress.com . She had a summer bucket list and after reading through her whole blog and the two lists, I was fascinated and decided to make my own. :D

Life And Death

May 11, 2012

 Lo siento!!! D: I am so very sorry everyone for poofing like that. So many things have been going on and taking my blogging Fridays away from me D: With Athletic things, finals around the corner, SATs {which sucked and turned my brain to mush.}, and Junior Leadership, and all in between; my time has slipped away from me. D:
     I shall use this post to write  something you lovely people's eyeballs can read.

A life can be taken at any given moment of any day. The life could be as early as pre-natal or as old as over 100 years of age and all that lies in-between. A life can be taken quick and painless or drawn-out and strenuous.

On a personal account, I value life highly, more so now than ever. I've had many near-death accidents in my short lifetime of 16 and a half years.

When I was born, my heart rate dropped to near nothing. The doctors and my parents nearly lost me that day. The first of many times I 'cheated death' or God has laid His hands of protection over me {whichever you believe}.

A short time later, when I was around 2 or 3 years of age, I fell ill. I was taken to the doctor who accidentally prescribed me medicine that was too much for my toddler body. It was medicine used for adults. My parents, thankfully, realized it and took me to a different doctor who confirmed that the wrong medicine was given. A couple doses of that and we would have been in trouble with an overdose. By again, something allowed me to 'cheat' it again.

When I was around nine years young, my mom and I were on the interstate heading towards the city and were nearly crushed by an 18 wheeled Mac truck. The truck believed he could get over into our lane, when in fact, there was no where near enough room. And that wasn't the last time we nearly got hit by a Mac truck. I've had that scare many, many times due to the same reason that they think that have enough room when there's no way in heck they'll squeeze in. x-x''

When I was about 13 years of age, the vehicle I was in was nearly crushed by a train. The train did not have it's whistle of warning blowing nor did the candy-cane striped blockers come down to block the tracks. {It also was no where near the time it was supposed to be coming, but that information is irrelevant.} If it wasn't for a kind civilian to get out of his car and motion like a crazy person at us, we would have been struck by that train and my life would have ended. By the time we got off the tracks, not even ten seconds later, the train went by. The blockers still never came down. Coincidence? I don't think so...again something saved me and I 'cheated' again.

Now I was issued another 'wake-up call' about two weeks ago. A double dose. Now, at 16 and a half, I nearly got into two car accidents, back to back, a day apart. Two Fridays ago, we were going to get a pizza for dinner that night when someone stops their car in the middle of the road. Waiting a good minute or so with nothing happening, we decided to go around the car. As we do this, they decided they were going to cut us off and turn into us. The driver of the vehicle I was in was forced to turn into a parking lot to avoid hitting the other car. Which caused us to attempt to avoid two nice, big, tough brick columns. If my window had been down, I could have easily touched the column on my side, without even reaching. We came so close to hitting it and the horrible thing was, it was MY side that would have been damaged and crushed, not the driver's side. Mine. Full impact. If we wouldn't have swerved to miss the car, it would have hit the passenger's side. My side, struck by a car. So close. Again.

As if that wasn't still fresh in  my mind, the next day, Saturday, wasn't much better. My mom and I were on the way to my grandmother's house when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, around a curve over a bridge overlooking a crick, a large tractor (which took up both lanes of traffic) comes about. Blind-spot + bridge + giant tractor + car = not looking good. Again, I could've touched the bridge (which I still have no idea how the car didn't get scraped by it) as we squeezed by. I'm still not sure at all how we even managed to squeeze by without a scratch by the tractor nor the bridge. It amazes me but still terrifies me.

I find these two re-occurrences to be more than a ''mere coincidence''. I believe it was a sign. A sign that made me reconsider my faith and in turn strengthened my faith in God. I struggle a LOT in my walk and I slip a LOT too, but it's something I need to work on and am working on.

Reflecting on my past experiences, I realize just how easily, and early, I could have been kicked off of this earth. I also know that I am terrified of 18 wheeled trucks and trains...but that's beside the point.

Life is much too short to not know where you stand. That goes for any religion. Whatever you believe, you believe something, even those who believe in nothing.  Even atheists believe something, the believe in nothing they cannot see and prove. Hindus believe in reincarnation. Christians believe in God, who they cannot physically see person-wise but can see through all aspects of nature and all around. Buddhists believe in nirvana. Everyone in any religion believes in something. Whether it is right or wrong, I cannot say and I don't judge. But everyone believes in something and has faith in something and stand for something.

We all know the saying "You either stand for something or fall for anything." That saying is true. Easily influenced people can be easily swayed in their views by family, friends, and others. Whatever you believe in, stand strong. Don't be rude, but stand strong. Hear others out, but if you have faith that what you believe in is true, then stand strong.

And that's all I really have to say today. :) Long post is long but I owe you all something to keep y'all reading. xD

Welcome new followers! And thanks everyone for sticking with me! I promise once school is out by June 1st, you'll see more posts. :)

Keep your lights shining~
