Strength!

February 3, 2012

Goodness me! I'm awfully sorry I haven't been posting as often as I said I would D:  With school, basketball, projects, and other things I just haven't found the time.

This past month {and due Tuesday xD} I was assigned to do a writing project. One of my topics I chose was 'Strength'/ 'Strong' and once I finished writing it, it reminded me of my 'Breathing Is A Luxury' post in a way and I figured I might as well post it on here and let you guys have something new to read. :)

So without further ado, here's my dissection of the everyday word 'strong' *bows*

When one thinks of the word “strong” he immediately thinks of someone being physically strong with large muscles. One who can lift heavy things without a problem. But there are many more definitions to the word “strong” than just that one…

Webster’s defines the word “strong” as to be healthy, morally powerful, firm and durable, powerful in wealth or numbers, having a powerful effect, to be forceful, intense in degree, and lastly to be physically powerful.

To be morally strong is when a person has a good head on his shoulder and cannot be broken down or easily shaken. It is someone who stands firm for what he believes in. It is one who isn't easily influenced by others. That is what it takes to be morally strong.

One who is said to have a strong effect has a great influence on others with his words or actions. Most of the time these people are also strong-willed or determined.

Strong, forceful people tend to be those who are persuasive and want to get their point across.

Strong, healthy people are just that; healthy. They are well enough to take on the world, no matter what life throws at them. They aren’t weak or ill and are capable of doing what is needed. Simple as that.

Ever heard of the saying “there’s strength in numbers” ? It means that when more than one person stands up for something that they believe in, people are more likely to notice and join in or make a change in themselves.

The word “strong” is just one of those words with multiple definitions each meaning a different characteristic of someone or even something. Someone can be morally strong without being physically strong and vice versa.
There are many definitions but yet many are focused mainly on one.

What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger; in all ways not just one.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
