Encouragement: Pass It On!

October 14, 2011

Hi everyone! I want to start off this post by saying that I was going to right about what a drag life is being with school and its many tests and piles of homework, PSAT having been taken this previous Wednesday, ACT coming up next Saturday, volleyball and its horrible self...but I'm not. At yesterday's game I discovered a new and better topic that really needs to be shown and light shed on. A topic that most people nudge to a corner and let the cobwebs take over. A topic that is forgotten. And it's sad that encouragement isn't given as it should.

Encouragement. A thirteen letter word that could mean the whole world to somebody.
Discouragement. A fourteen letter word that could crush a person's entire self esteem and self-confidence.

As a person who isn't very self-confident, I know how it feels to be lifted by one's kind words of encouragement...and I know how it feels to be torn down by someone's discouragement by pointing out what I did wrong and fussing and giving nasty looks and what not. I've been there. I've done that.

This quote  in the picture above is true. And I found it to be true when a friend encourages me...but I never got to experience it the other way around. yesterday at the volleyball game, I encouraged the JV girls as I waited for my Varsity game. Even while some were on the bench, I sat there and talked with them to get the nerves away and so that they know to 'try their best...even if your best isn't good, if you try you're doing great. If you don't try, then you should just sit down.'  {words from me.} I told them not to worry about what the other girls on the team say when they are fussing or rolling their eyes or making nasty faces. I told them to brush that off and try their best. Even if you screw up, brush that off and try something different. If coach pulls you out, at least you tried. You CANNOT win all the games. Don't get upset. You tried and that's what matters. As long as you have HEART and TRY, you are the true winner. You may not have physically won the game, but you mentally won because you tried your best, kept a good ATTITUDE, had good sportsmanship, and kept your head up.
It really irks me when I see a girl or boy for that matter trying at a sport or something and end up messing up...and then an older player on that team is all like 'WTH was that? I mean really? All these practices and you STILL can't do it??? WHAT?!?!?' and then motions to the coach to put a person in for the one that messed up. It aggravates me to no end. The person tried. Did they want that person to just sit back and watch the ball fall at their feet? Or did they want that person to just stand back and let the other team score a point? And be all 'be my guest. I'm not going to try to get the point back.' No. Because then the older players will fuss even more. It's a no-win situation. You just cannot get any encouragement from some people these days.

If you tear down someone on your team by fussing at them, giving them nasty looks, rolling your eyes at them, motioning 'secretly' to the coach to take them out...that's just going to make the person want to NOT try anymore. It makes them give up. And your team will lose.

Instead just say "Good try!" and you'll see them smile. Or if they do good, say "Good/Great JOB!" and smile or high five them and you'll see a new change of atmosphere and your team will try even more and pull together as a team even more and maybe, just maybe, you'll end up winning the game. :)
A little encouragement goes a long way. As I cheered for the JV girls and told them 'good try' when they messed up so they wouldn't beat themselves up over it. I had one girl come up to me and tell me 'thanks for the encouragement...I didn't think I could do it...but you're the most helpful one out here...thanks!' And I felt good... and self-confidence levels went up nearly everywhere in that game.

My little brother told me as I was writing this that he was playing a game with his friends that divided into teams at school and his team lost...but he went to the other team and told them 'good game' . He said was 'just trying to make a compliment.' How weird and ironic it is that he would say that while I'm typing this blog post... :) Even six year olds know about encouragement.

Do you? Pass it on~ :)

October And Class Rings!

October 7, 2011

Hola! No school this Friday, nor the next if I remember it correctly...so look forward to another post next Friday :D

A huge welcome to October! And a new follower! ^w^
October is going to be an amazing month! Why? Let me list out the reasons...

**My 16th Birthday :D
**Halloween!
**Basketball Season starts!
**Ordering Class Rings!
**ACT :/
**My Brother's Birthday!
**The Fair :D
**Carving Pumpkins~
**Dog Driving [hunting by turning beagles loose in the woods to chase out the deer]
Need I say more?

October is going to be great and it typically always is because there's always something to look forward to. :)

Junior Class Rings...always something to get excited about. :)
We are ordering ours on Monday and I'm siked :D I have already picked mine out the day we got the packets. I looks similar to the dark blue ring in the picture, but with a small diamond in the middle and the stone is light blue. My images on the sides are: 1) 'point guard' basketball player, my basketball number, and name; 2) A sun rising above water with doves flying into the air, and my graduation year. It's going to be pretty. ^w^  I'm excited :)

Now time to rant.

If there's one thing I hate more, it's fake, two-faced, idiotic people. I swear there are just too many of those types in this world.
*There's the people who might actually be a little smart, but choose to act dumb.
**There's the people who are loud and obnoxious and won't SHUT THE EFF UP!
*There's the people that call on you when they need you whether it be for help on a test, notes for a quiz, help on what a book was about, what homework was, help on work, or whatever the case may be...and that's the only time they'll really talk to you at school.
**There's the people who have money or is associated to someone who works at the school/college/same place you do and everyone is their friend just to stay out of trouble and get a good word put in....but you see through it and don't be their buddy and now there's a blood red target on your back.
*There's the people that think they are all that and a box of cookies and think they can flirt their way through life.
**Then there's the people that are a combination of all of the above.

Fake people, or attention wanters, cause me to get headaches and me no gusta. But I suppose there's nothing to do but ignore them...unfortunately they won't go away, no matter where you go. :/
/Excuse that small curse above. The rant is over now. You may open your eyes and unshield yourself ^w^

Well I have an orthodontist appointment soon and must run off...but I shall hopefully be back again next Friday :D
Enjoy your weekend! ...and week! ;D

Xbox Game: $30+ , iTunes Card: $15+ , Memories: Priceless~

September 23, 2011

Wow it's good to be back here after a two week leave of absence due to school shizz >.< Dear lord I had one test Tuesday and FOUR tests yesterday. The test on Tuesday was Geometry and I'm proud to say I made a 109 thanks to my extra credit worksheet I turned in. ^w^ The other four tests...History, Bio 2, English, and Vocabulary...were okay. I was all bent out of shape for nothing. Biology was the main one I was worried about, but once I got my test, I recalled everything that was on it. So that was good. Phew.

But I'm here to talk about tests and school and crap right now. But that's a basic overview of my week. xD Right now, as the title says, I'm here to talk about money and things that cost it and others that don't.
There are many people in this world that believe money is everything. They just have to get that brand new Hollister Fall line because their wardrobe is full of outdated, under-used clothing that they just CANNOT be caught dead wearing in a new season especially when a new line JUST came out. I mean I for one do not go out every season and purchase new clothes when I have a perfectly good variety of jackets and hoodies and jeans in my closet that still fit and are still like new. Yes, it's fine to go out and purchase new clothes if you grew out of clothes. Because clothes will shrink, be grown out of, fade, get worn, get holes if worn/washed a lot. But if you are going out to buy a new line of Autumn suited clothes when you have five or six jackets ranging from lightweight to heavy that are still all colorful and still fit and in good shape...that's just wasting money. Money that you may or may not have. Because let's face it...not everyone is rich...especially in this cruddy economy. People may SAY they're rich and come into class with extravagant, new name brand clothing each season...but that doesn't MEAN they ACTUALLY are rich.

And money isn't everything. There are plenty of things no one would ever trade for any amount of money. These include family heirlooms..{such as a family quilt that everyone in the family from long, long ago sewed a patch to that signifies something...or foreign currency from when your great granddad or granddad brought back from fighting in WW1 or WW2}....and pictures from when you were younger and when your parents were younger and even when your GRANDPARENTS were younger and you hear the stories of the past or look at the pictures of you and remember that day as if it were yesterday.
Memories. I just love looking at a picture from years ago and remember. Remember exactly what happened that day. Remember the scent in the air. Remember...just everything. Or if I cannot remember that picture, I just ask my mom what happened and then I just might remember again.

And in the end, when it is all said and done, it won't matter how much money you have. It won't matter how much clothes you have or how much stuff you have or don't have. It won't matter how many friends or dates you've had. It won't matter how many tears you cried or how many smiles you grinned. It won't matter how many times you were heart broken or how many hearts you broke. It won't matter. Because in the end, all you have left are your memories. When it's judgement day, you won't be asked how much money you have. You won't be asked if you had regularly updated your wardrobe with that new brand stuff each and every season. You won't be asked that. You'll be asked how you lived your life. How many people you uplifted. And you'll remember. People and pictures fade, but true friends and memories last a life time and then some.

And that's what I have to say and I'm sticking to it. It sort of went deeper than I had shot for...but that's cool too xD Hope you enjoy~ :) Next Friday is yet another make up day at school x-x

It Feels Like Fall~

September 9, 2011

Hey everyone, it's Friday and I haven't school today...but sadly next Friday is one of our make-up days. x-x

And oh boy my first day of school wasn't at all as bad as I imagined it'd be. It was actually enjoyable, kind of hectic as no one knew where to go, but enjoyable.

Spanish II is kind of...entertaining but in a 'wow' way. Since we don't have a teacher that actually can speak the language fluently, we use a series of online videos meant for homeschool kids. And the lady who speaks is so hilarious! But of course, she isn't meaning to be...but well we, and our teacher, find it amusing. xD

My favorite class, I'd have to say, is US History, because of two things: 1) the teacher is awesome. and 2) she knows how to make it fun to keep our attention.

But yeah, first week of school has been pretty okay...hopefully it'll stay that way all year long xD

But dear god my weeks are busy! D: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thurdays = sports practice. {August - mid October = volleyball. Mid October - early March = Basketball <3}  And on some Wednesdays after school, I'll be with my guidance counselor getting ready for the SAT, ACT, and scholarships, and all. >.>
To any of you who may have taken the above tests...any advice/tips? :)
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Awwww, goodbye hot, unbearable sunshine and hello to crisp, autumn coolness. I cannot and repeat CANNOT bring myself to wear shorts and go outside in the mornings anymore. It's much to cool. So, when I go to school each morning, I'm wearing typically some long pants and a t-shirt...and when I step out of my house and that cool, morning briskness hits me, I want to run to the house and grab a jacket xD That's how cool it is. And I'm loving it {bada ba ba bah...erm..McDonald's anyone? xD}

I'm really looking forward to October for the most part, because not only is it the month for Halloween and my 16th birthday...but it's also the ENDING for Volleyball {Thank GOD!} and the BEGINNING of Basketball <3 {Thank GOD! :) } But why may I not be looking forward to October? Because...one, three letter acronym...ACT. And it's writing all the way through...which I'm a decent writer and I enjoy writing, but still it's something to be nervous about. But if I screw up, I'm taking it again in the Spring, so no biggie. I have a cushion to fall back on. ^w^

But anyway, I just love the Fall.
I love seeing the trees' leaves turn from their regular calming green to the vibrant oranges and reds and yellows. There's a tree near my house that is sooooo beautiful at the beginning of Fall before the leaves fall off. And the atmosphere is just so soothing and relaxing. I love going outside as the sun goes down and just chill.

And that is all for today I suppose...I haven't much to really say...which is odd. I should have tons of things to say as I haven't written since...Monday? But well, that's how it happens I guess xD

*~Keep those lights shining bright :D
Gosh, I'd love to see that. All those Chinese Lanterns in the sky... :)

PS, welcome new followers!!! :D

Happy Labor Day!

September 5, 2011

Happy Labor Day everyone!

Sorry I haven't posted this weekend as I promised before...sadly things came up and I no time to blog or even use the internet much. :/ And I nearly had no time today, and still don't really, since I have to get things together for school starting tomorrow.. I know, I'm a procrastinator. xD

So here I am today wishing you all a Happy Labor Day and I hope you all are enjoying your day off! Whether it be from school or work~ Enjoy it :D

Now I must find myself a backpack...since my other two from last year broke...and now I am backpack-less D: Time to bum one from my brother ;D

Just to give you all a head's up...the next time I'll post will probably be Friday. I highly doubt anything earlier since I get out of school at 4 and then have practice Tuesday and Thursday til 6 and on Wednesday I will be staying after school for a session with my guidance counselor so I can get prepared for the SAT and ACTs... A busy KayKay is busy D:

And excuse the lack of pictures and things...D:

Beautiful by Eminem <3 << Listen to this song. It's amazing and I love it so~
"Don't let anyone say you ain't beautiful...they can all get effed just stay true to you~"  {Note: Explicit words are in this youtube vid...just saying xD}

And now I must finish getting my school crap together x-x Wanna trade places? :)

*~Keep your chins up and your lights shining~

I remember Lite Brite's from when i was a little kid...they were so awesome :)
You're all beautiful!!!! :)

Junior Year, Get Excited...Or Not.

September 2, 2011

Yes, I did type August 32 to begin with...which makes no sense whatsoever...but well...don't judge me xD It's September! Which means, welcome cool weather, bonfires, and hoodies! Welcome jeans and t-shirts, yellow and orange leaves, and jackets! No more scorching heat and all. Wheee!

But wait. That means one thing. Hello school and all who inhabit it. x-x Hello Junior year and my busy busy schedule so Senior year will be a breeze and stress free. What do I mean? Let's see here....

Junior year classes:
*Homeroom/Bible
*Geometry
*Bio 2
*Spanish 2
*Literature
*History
*English
{in no particular order. I fail to recall my schedule as I'm writing this xD}

And after school, I have sports practice til six Monday, Tuesday, Thursday...leaving my Wednesdays and Fridays free right? Wrong.

On Wednesdays after school, I'm going to begin seeing our Guidance Counselor and start getting my plans for college out of the way so I won't be stressed out during my Senior year. I already know what I'm going to be, a veterinarian, and I know of the university I'd love to get in at. I just need help deciding majors and minors, if there's any other great vet schools around, help getting all the scholarships I possibly can get, help doing applications, and college whatnot things. That way, in my Senior year, while the others are scrambling around like a chicken with it's head cut off, I can sit back and relax and concentrate on my studies. ^w^ KayKay ish smart about planning ahead :D

But that's not all. Not every Wednesday afternoon will be spent that way. After I turn 16 in October, I am going to begin volunteering/interning at the local Vet Clinic so I can get a hands on experience on what I'll be doing in the future. Not only does that look great on my college transcripts, but it also shows me what I'll be doing and it'll give me a head start on my studies. Makes sense, yes? That'll be my {some} Wednesdays and Fridays.

Thennnnnn on some Saturdays after I'm 16, I will spend my afternoons volunteering at the local SPCA. I love animals and it'll be fun for me :) And it looks good on my college transcripts, but hey I love animals so it's not like I'm just doing it so colleges will look my way, nope I honestly been wanting to do this since I was about nine years old *shrugs* wasn't thinking bout college then, now was I? xD

Oh did I mention I won't be free from sports practice until the end of February/ early March? After volleyball is Basketball which is my favoritest sport ever <3 :)

And what happens in March/April? PROM. Yeah and the Junior class has to raise money for it *like always* and we haven't got a cent in our account. x-x /fail. So now we gotta figure out how we are going to do this and whatnot. x-x

Oh yeah. Class rings :D We get to order class rings :D I have mine planned out to an extent...light blue stone {because light blue is pretteh :) } , silver/white gold, one side: my name, underneath it a basketball net and ball and my bball number (#13), other side: I haven't a clue yet xD

KayKay is going to be a busy busy person after she turns sixteen and even before x-x

But guess what? I get one more mini vacation before school begins Tuesday! After I get home from going up to the city to get the rest of mine and my brother's school crap {bookbag, Germ-X, graphing calculator, tissues...oh the usual x-x} I am packing my bags and heading out to the lake for the weekend with my best friend Ashley! :)

So yeah, this is my day's post....and since I'll be at the lake, I'll have Wi-Fi and my laptop and I can post this weekend ^w^

I Wanna Be Like An Apple Tree...Ridiculousness.

September 1, 2011

Happy September First, you guys! Wow it's hard to believe that August is over and summer is winding down... Hopefully it'll start getting cooler! That would be a blessing indeed.

Well, I know what you're thinking...'WTF is wrong with you. Why do you want to be like an apple tree???' Chill out. Not literally. Check this out...
"I am a little apple seed
Sitting on the ground waiting to be
An ap---ple tree, an ap---ple tree
Everyone tells me that I'm oh so small
And I'm never gonna grow to be big and tall, big and tall but I tell them wait and see . . .
I'm gonna be like an apple tree
I'm gonna let all my branches run free I'm gonna reach way up to the sun and
Open my arms for everyone
And like an apple is sweet I'm gonna be so sweet
And like an apple shines in the sun (apple shines in the sun)
I shine my light on everyone
 'Cause I' m an a-p-p-l-e, apple tree
an a-p--p-l-e"
[Apple Tree by Justin Roberts]

I was just being lazy, checking my stats, re-blogging Pikachu gifs on Tumblr...and half listening to the TV...and all of a sudden that new McDonald's commercial..well it's not NEW, but it's not that old, maybe a month or two? And it came on and that song is on there and I was all like 'I need to Google these lyrics. I know it's saying something good...I really should've payed attention...' and blahblahblah. But it's true.

The song basically uses a metaphor of an apple tree to show how the life a child and how others may be bigger, but one day that small child is going to get big and strong too, just like their adult parents, or metaphorically, like the apple tree is big and strong. And that the child wants to be like an apple because apples are sweet and they tend to have a shine on them once the sun beams down on them and he wants to shine too. He wants to someone to be proud of him for something good he did, like the apple. It's all a giant metaphor and you just have to read between the lines...I think I dissected that small piece enough. xD I hope I made it clearer, but to be honest I think it's really cut and dry if you read it over once or twice, you'll see, once you see the commercial, it'll make more sense xD

So I want to be that apple tree. I want to grow tall and strong. I want to shine in the sun. I want to be bittersweet...but some apples are bitter too...because well you can never be 100% sweet. ;D And I'm getting there and so are you all~ Or maybe some of you are already all grown up and into adulthood~ But for me, I'm getting there. I'll be an 'apple tree' before long. :D  ..it's odd...I don't even like apples x-x

Now that's enough of that :) Apple trees are over for now~ ^w^

Now on to RIDICULOUSNESS! I totally fricking LOVE this show. It's indeed my favorite show on MTV besides Awkward. No lie.
And....Rob Dyrdek is amazing. <3

You like Fantasy Factory? You like Rob and Big? You'll love Ridiculousness. It's a combination of both. Take sports and take hilariousness they have a baby and it's Ridiculousness. xD

So you have Rob as the host and he's on top of a giant laptop and on that laptop, his buddy will play some of the funniest viral videos of wipeouts. Yesterday's showed Pogo Sick wipeouts, Skateboard wipeouts, and all kinds of misc. wipeouts. They have different categories like Redneck Good Times, Double Whammies, Pogo Stuck, What Happens Next, and many others! They even stop, rewind, slo-mo vids in the most hilarious parts. I swear you cannot go wrong watching this show.

Sooooo watch it! You will laugh your butt off watching this show. No lie. Enjoy! ^w^

And now I must make like a tree and leave because I have soooo much to do today! I have volleyball practice and then open house at the school and blehhh. So much to do and soooo little time. x-x  {Catch my little lame joke? xD}

Peace! :)
